Barbara Marsh is one of those people who leads by example. That being the correct example, one of peace and so much love and compassion. Barbara is my "boss" our director of nursing at an Alzheimer assisted living facility. I never imagined I could love working in the environment that I do. We love each and every one of our almost 60 residents. Barbara has taught us how to love them as individuals and how to be a specialist in dealing with certain components of this very sad disease.
I have seen her on many occasions hugging and reassuring residents. She talks with them and laughs with them. She respects and loves them. I have also learned from her how to support and comfort families. Many of these families now call Barb a true friend. She is our leader.
As nurses we are supported, respected and loved by her. She believes that your attitude is a reflection of you and one must embrace oneself in love and peace in order to have that beauty reflected in all you do. Barb has faced many challenges in her personal life this year one being the loss of her mother. We all stood by her and loved her and comforted her. Her spirit of optimism and peace always shined through even during her sad time of loss. It is hard to put into words how special this unique lady is. She speaks without raising her voice because she does not have to we want to hear what she has to say for it in many cases raises our spirits and fills our mind with peacefulness. We are so blessed to have her in our lives!!!
Peace to you!
